The Vita Coco Company is a publicly traded family of brands on a mission to reimagine what’s possible when brands deliver healthy, nutritious, and great tasting products that are better for consumers and better the world.
It all started when our founders, Mike and Ira, had a chance encounter with two coconut water lovers at a bar in New York City. After realizing all the benefits, they hatched a plan to bring more coconut goodness to the U.S with Vita Coco. Buzz around Vita Coco swelled, as coconut water evolved into a mainstay at stores across the country.
At The Vita Coco Company, we believe that nature is all that and then some–the less we mess with it, the better our products. We believe in harnessing, while protecting, nature’s resources for the betterment of the world and, its inhabitants (that’s you and I).
We work hard every day to create ethical, sustainable, and better-for-you products that not only uplift our communities but that do right by our planet.
We value the impact of education on a community. Through our Vita Coco project, which was established in 2014, we are committed to providing opportunities to future generations by investing in educational programs, like building new classrooms and awarding scholarships to economic empowerment initiatives with local growers.
Our employees are like coconuts – at the heart of everything we do. This means working with passionate people from diverse backgrounds who are committed in our mission driven approach to business. Developing an inclusive workforce and culture is our promise.
In collaboration with our external partners we aim to build systems that democratize nutrition, movement and wellbeing for a happier and healthier planet. This means amplifying diverse voices, creating access to education and wellness, and building programs where every person presents their best, authentic self. We are invested in making products that are both accessible and better for our consumers’ wellbeing.
We work to help coconut farmers increase their annual yield, diversify their crops, and grow responsibly. All the while, we also are committed to protecting and replenishing the ecosystems in these lands.
We recognize that making better for you products has a footprint on the environment. We are committed to the urgency towards climate action and environmental justice as we look to develop renewable initiatives that reduce our carbon emissions and water impact.
We want to ensure more responsible consumption patterns for a waste free world. This means ensuring that every material we produce adheres to our eco conscious principles, working to invest in a more robust recycling infrastructure, and creating products that are reduced and reimagined for future generations.
We’re humans, which means we’re not perfect, but we strive to be the best that we can be. We operate with a culture of inclusivity, transparency, and optimism, and we treat our people and our communities with humility and respect, all of the time. Our openness and bottomless curiosity allows us to learn from one another and we’re all better for it. Our differences and diverse backgrounds are our superpowers, which is why we don’t tolerate racism, sexism, or any other discriminatory ism.* Needless to say, assholes need not apply.
There is always a way and our willingness to challenge each other, and the status quo, is done with a sense of urgency. We take pride in doing things differently and believe mistakes are lessons, not losses. We eat yesterday’s success for breakfast and are always open to trying something new, learning and improving on what and how we do things, while still respecting and valuing each other’s POV’s. Diversity of thought is what drives us forward. None of us turn down a healthy debate, even when we agree to disagree.
Our shared passion makes us trust one another to work toward our common goals. We run on this collective passion and determination to not only get sh*t done but to win while we’re at it. We would’ve never known success if it weren’t for collaboration, communication, and accountability. Those three big words leave plenty of room for a shorter, but perhaps even more important, one: fun! (We have lots of it.) After all, we sell coconuts.
We’re like Jenny from the block, we know where we came from. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the planet (duh), its natural resources, and the farming communities from where we get our ingredients. We’re committed to protecting, uplifting, and empowering the sourcing communities we rely on, and our community at large.
